Welcome to “Bike Friendly” Serbia – a country that opens its roads, cities, and natural beauties to all cycling enthusiasts.
We are proud to present a private label launched by NatTour, a Greek Civil Non-Profit Company founded with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism practices across the Balkans, and Veselinov Tourism Consulting, the representative of this private label in Serbia.
The “Bike Friendly” label awards: municipalities/destinations, hotels, attractions, and companies, that meet mandatory and optional criteria aimed at enhancing the cyclists’ experience. On this occasion, we not only enhance the tourist offer but also contribute to environmental conservation, promote healthier lifestyles, and support local communities in developing sustainable practices.
The development of the “Bike Friendly” network began in Greece in 2017, and has the support of relevant ministries and tourism associations, which is planned to be the case for Serbia as well. This project aims to attract tourists who would like to visit Greek, and Serbian destinations and sites using bicycles as the main mode of transportation or as a complement to their short-distance tours near the hotels where they are staying.
The growing interest and increased demand for such services have led to guests seeking a comprehensive self-sustaining way of tourism. This, in turn, resulted in the registration of Bike Friendly hotels, Bike Friendly partners (cycling and other companies in tourism), as well as Bike Friendly municipalities and destinations.
Cycling is becoming increasingly prominent in Serbia in recent years, integrating into a new strategy in tourism as well as urban mobility. The bicycle is placed at the heart of this strategy as the primary mode of transport and activity for tourists and residents.
From hotels, cycling companies, and local communities, a minimal investment is expected, which is focused on basic services and equipment needed by cyclists.
In addition, it is necessary to form, mark, and maintain cycling routes, as well as organize cycling events. In many parts of Serbia, cycling routes or adequate services already exist that need further development, and thus, step by step, local communities within each destination strive to achieve recognition among cyclists.
The “Bike Friendly” network offer is available on a dedicated web portal with updated information on accommodation offers, bicycle rentals, photographs, news, cycling maps, and contacts for booking accommodation and reserving bicycles.
